Roses, Somewhere

I wonder if there are roses

Somewhere

That have seen centuries

An untouched life

Standing still

Blooming still

Seeing everything

Old books and buildings

Stone and paper worn

Into dust

Skeletons in unmarked graves

Names long lost to

The echoing halls of memory

Ships sunk before

I even thought of this life

Lost in the energy transfer

Of the everyday universe

I wonder if there are roses

Somewhere

That have seen the storms

And the wars

The fires of destruction

The world expanding

And collapsing around it

So many forgotten scenes

So many unspoken wisdoms

There must be roses somewhere

That have looked to the sky and

Seen infinity

There must be

And it is these roses

That are tangled in eternity
