Oncoming Storm (I’m comforted though)

I’ll wait

Up for you tonight

I imagine you

Are sitting out front

As I think of you

Face to the breeze

Of the oncoming storm

Driving away

I met the clouds on

The freeway in

The gathering dark

A fine haze on

My windshield

Promising more to come

If there were less

Things happening

Perhaps wind on

Freeways and

Flooded streets

Would be concerning

But for now it’s

Comforting

Rain on the roof is

Always sweet and

Gentle

A marker that

We survived another season

Still alive

Still alive

We’re still alive
