Against The Music

And that was after prolonged exposure

The dazzling sights and sounds of concert

After all the lights went out

The tipsy crowd shuffled away into

Cars and down the boulevards

Left the janitors cleaning

Seats and sweeping confetti

Left the singers drowning in

Post-stage glow

Lost in the twisting maze

Of doors and wires and

Dimmed floodlights

Behind the velvet curtains

Ears ringing

Eyes full of memories

Of light and sound

The starlit streets near silent

Against the music
