The Edge Of The Surf

•Derived from A Winter Night (Dec 19th, 2021).•

I stand witness

When the flames go out

And the clouds are left behind

Over the mountains

I can still feel it all

Smoke stings my eyes

Sit in the sand and lean

On your shoulder

Burn it all away now

The more sparks fly the easier it is

To forget the world is not just pit fires

Stars through the haze

The flames burn higher

We could walk the coastline

Forever

Never look back

Now the fog seeps

Up the sand and the cliffs

And we are gone

Only our mingling footprints remain

Set deep in the edge of the surf
