Catching The Bus
Lights behind glass doors
Evening stars
Nothing open
I see you
Hiding in the back
Pretend to do things
Don’t make me go home
I want to keep walking
Past houses and fields
Through forests
Abandoned paths
Give me all day and I’ll make it somewhere
I put my mind behind it
Wander on
Empty storefronts stare
From either side of the street
I think about who owns them
How they are doing
Wave goodbye at the train
Passing, headed north
Cross the tracks when it’s gone
Wander on
One of these days
In laundromats
Or spacious hotel rooms
I’ll find peace
And when I wake up the next day
Pick up my bag
Slip into battered boots and run
Catch the bus
See something new
