Beside The Jagged Cliffs (if only I could reach you)

In every mythos

There is silence

When the rain falls

Freeways turned white

Hazy from the spray

Some tired god sobbing

Achilles over Patroclus’

Broken form

The pause before

All things come crashing down

Like raindrops

Like tears

I’m out to sea now

All this water rushing

Taking me on a tumbling ride

In my minds eye

I lose the battle

But I am thrown ashore instead

To land beside the jagged cliffs

And above me in the rain

Stands the lighthouse

Resilient beacon in the storm

You are up there

Surely you see me now

In every mythos

There is silence

When the rain falls

But none so silent as this

The moment I know all

Has come due

Watching you guard the light

From far below

By the oceans edge

It must be me crying

All these tears and rain

You stand unknowing

Golden and dry

Eyes on the horizon

Unforgiving skies

If only you saw me

If only I could reach you
