To Midnight

I broke my compass and

Lost my wings

So I follow the train tracks instead

Sit in the corner where

I can watch everyone pass

Running late to promised

Meetings

Meandering homeward after

A long day of work

From here I

Can see all the twilights

See all the dawns

Today is like any

Other day

Strangers speed on the freeway

The snow graces the mountains

I wonder how you’re doing

Hope you’re not too cold

Watch the pale sunset fade 

To sparkling darkness

To midnight

To a new day
