Carry On

I’ll spend

A minute in the mirror

Look at how

Deep the circles beneath

My eyes are

Becoming

Remember that this is

How it felt the first

Year

And the year after

And the year after that

I can see the pattern

Forming

At least I can see the pattern

Do too much and stretch

Too thin

I sleep heavy but

Strange

Like not even closed

Eyes can save me now

Yet onward I go

Salute the crawling clouds as

I hit the freeway

Drive past old memories

Feel my thoughts gain

Weight

An anchor locked to my

Forehead

Slowly dragging my mind

And I to

The floor

Where I lie and wait

Hoping it will become lighter

So I may get up and

Carry on
