Looking back

Is like looking through a tunnel

I remember more than I give myself credit for

So much time spent outside

So much time spent with people

Looking back

I can see things

Things I used to believe

Things I used to feel

A lot of things I did not understand about myself 

That made days and photos less genuine

Looking back

I like the wilder photos of me

Times my hair was untamed and red

Times I was wearing something comfortable

Smiling because I wanted to

Or because someone caught the moment 

Just right

They seem so honest

A promise to the person I am 

In this moment

And to the person I will be later
