suffering has a taste like sugar

The blue beneath the ocean foam

Threat at the thought of jumping in

By the cliffs

You kick up the sand and it muddies

And suffering has a taste like sugar

Spilling out of my mouth like breath

And sweat

Of hard work where nothing gets done

I felt the inside of your lip the other night

And saw how simple my life could become

My world

Not small but condensed, better to be held

And love has a taste like fresh bread

Never enough of it, always reaching

For more

The thought of it stills me at once

(I laugh

The gods laugh with me)
