Driving down avenues

Amber streetlamps

Casting light and

Shadow 

Side by side

How much more

Gentle

On my hurting soul

On my sleepy eyes

The colors faded

To dusty greys and

Traffic light 

Red and green and gold

Star-filled sky peeking 

Out of the fog

If the moon

Were more

Than a crescent

We would have

Moon-shadows

Pale clear reflections

Of the earlier

Brighter

Harsher

Sun
