Sleep Is Sweeter

And I can’t find the source of my optimism

It comes from the depths

Some unfathomable pit from which hope trickles, tainting my every word

And I can’t speak of how you have changed me

Only that I do not worry when I lie near you

Sleep is sweeter

The world weighs less

That old folk song said “I’d sew my true love to my side/and down the creek we’d go” and The Amazing Devil said “Cause I’ll darn you back together/when you think that you’re bereft” and Aurora said “stitch your skin onto my skin/and we won’t be alone”
