Silver Stars
Tell the silver stars I’m coming
When the art has been inked and the songs have been sung
The poems have been written and read
I’ll be flying to them
There will be streaks in my wake, like meteors
My legacy, brimming with creation
Tell the stars I’m coming
I will live among them as I live among people
Chaotically, stumbling and grinning
Hoping against everything to be lucky
And remain happy
And remain safe
Passing along what I can, to the ones who can be helped
Tell them it’s only a matter of time now
Life is as long as it is short
It can be as full as you like it
Or as empty
Ever moving, no moment the same
Silver sand in an hourglass
A grand and complex antique clock, winding down
Tell the silver stars I’m coming
They will know all my stories already
From their omniscient place in the void
But they will hear it all again, gladly
For the sheer life of it, the hardship and euphoria
The honesty
The inevitable end
I am just another silver star in the sky
