In my dream last night

Cornered me

Slit my throat

Left

Bleeding

Soaking the white carpet 

Crimson

They are fools

I wear scars in the

Dreamscape

So many times

I’ve died

Claws have torn

Left me mangled and

Broken

Fangs have ripped

Punctures and gaping wounds

I’ve drowned

Screaming into depthless

Silence

Watching my precious air float away

I’ve fallen

So far

When my wings stop working and

The wind swallows me whole

Until the bottom

You think a simple

Knife 

Will keep me down?

But they wouldn’t know

When all my blood is gone I

Get up 

Again

Look at my neck in the mirror

My bloodless face

Just someone else who

Tried

And failed
