Watch The Light Fade

I got to watch the light fade

The horizon still fairly pale

But when I look up it’s deep and shining

I sat on the swings in my hometown and thought

Who would I have been without this?

I don’t know that person at all

But I know this one quite a bit

The one who wants to cry when they look at the stars

Pinpricks among the grey clouds and void

The one who flinches at certain words

The one who would rather see you happy

Above all things nearly

The one who makes tea to keep themselves calm

And gives it all away instead of drinking it

We watched the light fade

Myself and I

Dusk is more blue than I remember

And all the planes look like planets in the dark
